We are coming off of a WWE SummerSlam weekend that was a lot of fun and jam-packed with in-ring action!
We had some matches and some really good storytelling in the ring. Now let’s get started on the Top 5.

BUDDY MURPHY

Buddy Murphy has been outstanding so far in his role in this “Whodunit?” angle that involves Roman Reigns, Daniel Bryan, and Erik Rowan.
He also did great in his first matchup against “The Big Dog.” He lost the match but definitely held his own against the WWE poster boy.
Hopefully, this angle will propel Murphy into a storyline that is worthwhile because early indications seem to show Buddy as a star in WWE.

SASHA BANKS

Does blue hair make you evil? I am not sure. However, it was a fantastic heel turn from Sasha Banks this past week on Raw as she beat up former friends Natalya Neidhart and Becky Lynch.
I expect big things from Sasha Banks, as I feel she is more of a natural heel than a babyface.
Her run in NXT as a heel is what made her such a big star in the first place. If she can call back to those tactics she used back then, we could be seeing a new main event star as the face of the Women’s Division on RAW.

ANDRADE

Beating Rey Mysterio two consecutive times in a row is a big deal no matter who you are in WWE.
Andrade is an interesting story to me so far on the main roster in WWE. It is obvious he can wrestle a great match with anyone (see his match with Johnny Gargano at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn.
It is seriously one of the best matches of all time, but so far he has been in “neutral” in terms of a story people can get behind.
Perhaps destroying the legend of Rey Mysterio is just what Andrade needs to be a top heel.

THE BEST FRIENDS

I am still not 100% sure on how I feel about the Best Friends. On the one hand, it is a little bit too corny for me to like but then, on the other hand, they have these little mannerisms that make me a fan.
This week on the Youtube series of “The Road To All Out” the Best Friends were profiled and slap my knee caps and call me “Calvin” if I was not entertained.
There was nothing over the top or memorable but by the time their interview was over I really wanted them to become the first AEW tag team champions. If you haven’t seen episode five yet I would highly recommend it.

JORDAN MYLES

Jordan Myles is an athlete who has the look you want for a future champion in NXT. He looks great getting off the bus and has a move set that goes viral on Twitter.
This week he won the NXT Breakout Tournament beating Cameron Grimes. I would expect this tournament victory could lead to a title shot in NXT very soon.
Myles was a great choice to win this NXT tournament as he will for sure be the next breakout star.

Emily’s Tepid Take of the Week: Isn’t calling Asuka the Empress of Tomorrow the same as saying she’s never the Empress of Today? Like, maybe she’ll get to it later, but probably not? She’s just touting the fact she will never be queen. Forever loser.?

So that's it! The definitive, undisputed, Top 5 wrestling personalities of the industry for this week!

Tim and Tom talk about WWE SummerSlam, NXT Takeover, The WWE King of The Ring tournament, Roman Reigns, Buddy Murphy, Daniel Bryan, Rowan, Super Seth Rollins, Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch, Kevin Owens, Shane McMahon, CM Punk, Randy Orton, Kofi Kingston, The Miz, Dolph Ziggler, Rey Mysterio, Dominic, Aleister Black, and VIOLENCE!

We're still in Toronto, following the previous night's WWE SummerSlam. Let's get right into the fallout!

They are going all-in on the WWE Universal Champion Seth Rollins being the premiere babyface. He's giving full Cena-like speeches now.
I'm not sure if AJ Styles is the guy to counteract that, even if he is currently a heel.
I would think they'd want a bigger, more traditional heel, but perhaps they don't.
Maybe they're gong a different way after Seth Rollins' WWE SummerSlam match with Brock Lesnar. I suppose we'll get a great match, I'm just not sure we're going to get a well-told story.

I liked this, which may sound contradictory, seeing as how I just went over the whole heel vs face thing about Seth Rollins.
I think Samoa Joe is different, though. His character largely remains the exact same whether he is face or heel.
Also, I like that, while the babyfaces help each other, the heels do not like each other. So when Sami Zayn was running his mouth, Sami Zayn got dealt with.
I'm not sure if exactly where they take this Samoa Joe angle, but I like when he's an angry loose cannon.

It seems like we're giving Dolph Ziggler a "can't do anything right" gimmick. He's getting destroyed by Goldberg and The Miz is making him look like a fool.
For whatever reason, I'm still intrigued by this story, but I think they are running out of time to really start telling it, before I lose my interest.

The best line of the night is when Elias told Ricochet that no one who dresses up like a comic book character wa going to tell him what's "cool".
I know WWE is all aboard the Ricochet train right now, but I still think Elias could be a much bigger deal.

I still have zero interest in Andrade. I still have zero interest in this forced "rivalry" between he and Rey Mysterio.
However, after the match, they highlighted how Rey Mysterio is losing a lot of matches lately. Mysterio interviewed in the back about it even.
Do you think there is even a remote possibility that WWE takes a left turn, and turns Rey Mysterio heel?

I know Stonecold Steve Austin has a new show to promote, and that WWE was going to find a way to get him on, for that reason alone.
I'm not even that turned-off by how this went. Most real sports use accomplished veterans for analysis, so that makes enough sense for him to be there.
However, they already laid the Superstar Seth Rollins thing on pretty thick to start the show, it's a bit much now.

These guys are still being a lot of fun. They have managed to do this role in a way that feels different than anyone has.
The Street Profits are pulling off the comedy role, without it feeling like it's a clown show. The benefit of them "narrating" the show gives RAW a nice touch.
This is a nice way to have NXT stars highlighted on the main roster without them just essentially becoming main roster stars.
Click here to follow @TableShow on Twitter!
I feel like both of these guys are in a similar position. They both look like they should be a bigger deal, but it's just not connecting.
Out of the two, I feel like Drew McIntyre has a better chance of sticking around for a while.
Cedric Alexander has even less going for his character. What does he do? Why does he do it? WWE really hasn't told us much about him.

This feels like a match from WWE Main Event, not RAW. This makes me feel like they're getting us ready to "reintroduce" us to Glorious Robert Roode.
Is there anything left to do when this character? Didn't we miss the boat already on this guy?

I believe this was an easy, effective way to explain Brock Lesnar being gone for another one of his extended breaks.
Brock is infrequently there, so it's hard to make long plans, and this is a way for him to disappear for a while without too many questions.
Am I wrong? Will he just show up next week and beat the crap out of someone?

Hear me out; I think they should find a way to make the 24/7 Title slightly less gimmicky. I think they can get into some of these minor stories deeper.
Elias vs R Truth could be a very entertaining storyline to tell over the course of a few weeks. Hopefully we see some of that next week.

Okay! Shit is getting serious. However, I think Sasha chould have done without the wig thing. Nothing screams badass about removing a wig to reveal your new hair color.
The rest of this was good. Sasha instantly looked ruthless, which is what some of these wrestlers are supposed to be. They are fighting for their own success and rewards; competitors are nothing but an obstacle to destroy.
I'm excited to see how this plays out.

Are we not done with this? How many more jobbers do we have to watch The Viking Raiders destroy?
This is getting ridiculously boring.

Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross are great. The Kabuki Warriors look like a decent tag team as well, but their manger being Paige has not really been explained well.
There's a lot to still figure out with the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships.

This has me excited. The WWE King of the Ring is an excellent way to get someone bragging rights for an entire year, and possibly beyond.
My biggest fear, each time they "bring back" The WWE King of the Ring tournament, is that they have someone in mind for the cartoonish King gimmick.
That said, King Booker did a lot of good for Booker T's career, so I might not hate it, even if that's what we get.

Man, they are REALLY trying to make Seth Rollins the most loved guy in all of WWE. When did Braun Strowman begin caring about the safety and well-being of others on the roster?
This all seems really over-the-top. I'm beginning to wonder if they are leading us down a path, to give us some kind of swerve.
Will Braun Strowman keep helping Seth Rollins putt of trouble? Will Strowman eventually turn on Rollins? I'm not sure if I'm intrigued because they are being purposely vague, or if I'm just reading too much into things.

I guess that's it. I don't think we moved forward a whole lot, but it definitely felt like WWE has hit some reset buttons, and are introducing new angles after their second-biggest event of the year; WWE SummerSlam.

WWE SMACKDOWN LIVE in Toronto! These Toronto crowds have been interesting this weekend, even by Toronto standards.
What will be the fallout from WWE SummerSlam? Let's find out, shall we?

WWE will not let this Shane McMahon story die. That said, I think McMahon is the exact type of heel WWE needs in order to get this version of Kevin Owens over.
I like that they've involved McMahon fining Owens. Rich bosses screwing over employees is something a lot of fans can relate to, and get behind.

Charlotte is good. I do think WWE has an issue with her, in that they seemingly WAY overused her already.
I have zero connection to Ember Moon. I'm not into comics, sci-fi, or fantasy, etc.; so there's not much there for me to identify with, or relate to.

This was excellent. Daniel Bryan and Rowan, The Planet's Champions; fully denying the claim madeby Buddy Murphy last week.
This "Who Tried To Kill Roman" storyline keeps getting better. Daniel Bryan is so good as a heel, and his reasons why he didn't blame Murphy for his lies was great.
This whole promo really set the tone for this storyline moving forward.
Now I'm excited to see how this finally shakes out.

I want this promo to become Aleister Black's signature style. He should "live" in these rooms, each week talking trash and begging for fights.
This isn't the story, or character, that I'm most geeked about, but I think it's going well enough, and provides Black with a unique style.

Buddy Murphy is getting a lot of good exposure right now, even if he is getting thrown around and beaten by Roman Reigns.
As I said, this story keeps getting deeper, and I hope Buddy Murphy is more involved than he's letting on.

Kevin Owens gets screwed again! I talked about this earlier. I'm not sure if we are getting love for Kevin Owens, or hate for Shane McMahon.

Daniel Bryan is impressing me a lot with his work in this storyline. It's hard to tell if we're supposed to believe if Murphy is lying, Daniel Bryan and Rowan are lying, or neither.
Daniel Bryan has been a great character in this. He seems like he might be actually behind everything, but is manipulating everyone with his reactions to it.

I guess I don't mind if the Kofi Kingston vs Randy Orton saga continues. Randy, when focused, can be one of the best in-ring performers. He seems like a legit psychopath that might snap and rip your face off.

Click here to follow @TableShow on Twitter
This is how you do it! Daniel Bryan demanding an apology for Murphy "admitting" that he lied about Rowan's involvement is the assault of Roman Reigns, is awesome. He really feels smug.
Now, the best part, is the cliff hanger of Daniel Bryan telling Roman Reigns that he and Rowan have identified the culprit, and will be bringing that person to Reigns next week.
I'm very excited for this storyline to to keep playing out. I hope we get even a few more twists and turns.

WWE SMACKDOWN LIVE, is killing it lately. This Roman Reigns storyline has me excited to tune in each week.
Let's hope WWE keeps bringing the goods!

CAIN VELASQUEZ

When you consider how the likes of MMA standouts Tito Ortiz, Rampage Jackson, and Stephen Bonnar did in their pro wrestling debuts (which was awful), it is incredible to consider how well Cain did in his tag match at Triplemania.
Velasquez was doing high spots and holding his own with seasoned veterans in Lucha Libre. You could argue that this was the best match from a rookie pro wrestler since Ronda Rousey.
I am not 100% convinced that Cain is done with MMA but if he is stepping away from the sport, I think he will have a spot at AEW, WWE, or any other promotion he wants to join.

SAMOA JOE

There was a lot of rumors swirling around Joe when Roman was attacked on Smackdown Live. It was a cool story progression to see Joe on top the announcers table screaming his innocence.
It was also cool to see the ultra-heel Joe add layers to his character by showing empathy and concern for Roman when a car tried to run Reigns over in the parking lot.
It is sad that at the time of this article Joe does not have a match at SummerSlam. Each week Joe is a highlight of whatever WWE show he is on.

ALEXA BLISS & NIKKI CROSS

I really like the addition of the women’s tag titles to the Bliss & Cross storyline. In a division that did not have much going for it other than great promos from the Iiconics, Alexa & Nikki can now be the champs that try to play “queen of the hill” and beat babyface challengers.
When that story gets old, WWE can go back to Bliss manipulating Cross and unpeel the layers of that interesting story.

MATT RIDDLE

To be honest, Riddle made my list more for what he has been saying on Twitter than what he has been doing in NXT.
Don’t get me wrong I am very interested in the feud he has going with Killian Dain and I am really looking forward to his match at NXT Takeover. BUT his hot takes on the likes of Goldberg, Y2J, and Booker T have been wildly entertaining.
Anytime a current wrestler tries to ruffle the feathers of pro wrestling legends AND makes valid points doing it I am all in and glued to the hot takes, BRO.

ADAM COLE

Adam Cole is “straight cash homie” and the coolest pro wrestler alive! If you disagree you are not a smart person and you were probably shoved in a locker at school.
With that all being stated, Cole has been great as the NXT Champion. His promos have been great, and he fits naturally as the leader of the Undisputed Era.
I think the match of the weekend will be his match for the NXT Title against Johnny Gargano.

Another week, another WWE SMACKDOWN REVIEW!
What wild and crazy adventures will we get into this week? Will we start to see the Bischoff influence?
RAW churned out a decent episode, can Smackdown do the same?
Let's review!

This was good. In all of the Beckymania we experienced lately, I think we forgot that Charlotte is, legit, one of the best in the business.
The premise for this promo was about as basic as it can be; two competitors arguing over who is better. Yet, Charlotte and Trish had me listening very closely, and THAT is the mark of a charismatic performer.
It will be interesting to see how this match turns out at WWE SummerSlam!

Dolph mocking Goldberg's entrance was fun. I guess we're going full speed ahead with this storyline where Dolph hates the legends.
The part of this whole segment that didn't really make sense was Ali's attempted heroism.
I don't get why we saw all these cool vignettes of Ali, just to have him fight for the honor of a couple of legends, and lose doing so.
But hey, Dolph looked good, so I guess that's what mattered more in this segment.
Click here to follow TweetTheTable on Instagram
I like that they've given Natty a bit of a mean streak. I think she just might get a lot of crowd support in Toronto.
I still REALLY don't care about this Bayley vs Ember Moon match. I really wouldn't miss either one of these Superstars.
Click here to like the Spanish Announce Table Podcast on Facebook
I guess this lost steam for me, and not because of Kevin Owens. I think the Shane character went on too long for me to care, even though that's exactly the point of this story.
I'm even a little worried that this might make it hard for Kevin Owens to continue the momentum he's building.
I think Shane will find a way to have one of his cronies attack SHANE, thus getting Kevin disqualified, and fired.
Kevin will then continue to interrupt the show and try to force his way in. The saga continues.

Did Aleister back just cut a promo while being cryogenically frozen? This was a little awkward.
I get why they didn't carry this match through to WWE SummerSlam; there wasn't much steam behind this story.
Sami Zayn loses again. That's a lot of losses racking up for poor Sami.

I'm very excited that we finally get to see how The Fiend translates to a wrestling match.
Everything about this Bray Wyatt rebirth, so far, has been done excellently. He has managed to evolve the character, not just change it.
By that, I mean that he's carried elements from his past character and used them in this new incarnation.
That said, I feel like that has made me have an expectation of a similarly masterful evolution of his in-ring wrestling style.
I'm not sure if that's a fair expectation to have, but I think I'll be slightly disappointed if he doesn't deliver.

Are we building to something beyond SummerSlam? I like that.
I think Elias could benefit to get away from Shane McMahon, if at least for a little while. He has a lot to highlight as his own character; there's other performers that would be better suited in that henchman role.
Now, Chad Gable; where do we go from here? Will this be Elias vs Gable, or will we see Gable being punked by other wrestlers also?
I hope we get more, next week!
Click here to follow @TableShow on Twitter
So, I didn't put a picture up, but we got dueling video packagers for Kofi Kingston vs Randy Orton. I generally like these, and this one was no different.
I think Orton and Kofi did a good job of selling this feud. They did a better job at that than I initially believed they would. Kofi Kingston wins at WWE SummerSlam, though.

Now, to the Roman Reigns thing. I really like this story. I want Buddy Murphy's accusations of Rowan to be a lie; something he said to escape Roman's grasp.
I don't know that they'll go that route; IT does make sense that The Planet's Champions and Roman Reigns are technically SmackDown guys.
Will this essentially end the RAW part of this story? What about Samoa Joe? This is intriguing, and a great way to keep people coming back for more!

Not a bad week, and they did some good final builds for the WWE SummerSlam matches.
Things appear to be picking up from a storyline aspect. I'm excited for that, and hope there is more where that came from.
An interesting aspect is that the final image they left us with, is for a story that isn't scheduled for anything at SummerSlam.
As far as I know, none of these characters involved in the Roman Reigns saga is involved in a SummerSlam match.
I don't recall EVER seeing that happen. I'm guessing this storyline WILL find a way to get on WWE SummerSlam in some fashion.
Thanks for reading, share your thoughts in the comments or on Twitter (@TableShow).
