What wild and crazy adventures will we get into this week? Will we start to see the Bischoff influence?
RAW churned out a decent episode, can Smackdown do the same?
Let's review!
This was good. In all of the Beckymania we experienced lately, I think we forgot that Charlotte is, legit, one of the best in the business.
The premise for this promo was about as basic as it can be; two competitors arguing over who is better. Yet, Charlotte and Trish had me listening very closely, and THAT is the mark of a charismatic performer.
It will be interesting to see how this match turns out at WWE SummerSlam!
Dolph mocking Goldberg's entrance was fun. I guess we're going full speed ahead with this storyline where Dolph hates the legends.
The part of this whole segment that didn't really make sense was Ali's attempted heroism.
I don't get why we saw all these cool vignettes of Ali, just to have him fight for the honor of a couple of legends, and lose doing so.
But hey, Dolph looked good, so I guess that's what mattered more in this segment.
I like that they've given Natty a bit of a mean streak. I think she just might get a lot of crowd support in Toronto.
I still REALLY don't care about this Bayley vs Ember Moon match. I really wouldn't miss either one of these Superstars.
I guess this lost steam for me, and not because of Kevin Owens. I think the Shane character went on too long for me to care, even though that's exactly the point of this story.
I'm even a little worried that this might make it hard for Kevin Owens to continue the momentum he's building.
I think Shane will find a way to have one of his cronies attack SHANE, thus getting Kevin disqualified, and fired.
Kevin will then continue to interrupt the show and try to force his way in. The saga continues.
Did Aleister back just cut a promo while being cryogenically frozen? This was a little awkward.
I get why they didn't carry this match through to WWE SummerSlam; there wasn't much steam behind this story.
Sami Zayn loses again. That's a lot of losses racking up for poor Sami.
Oh wow, I thought they decided to stop doing this. I'm not sure if I'm intrigued, or annoyed by this. It's definitely different, I'll give it that.
I'm very excited that we finally get to see how The Fiend translates to a wrestling match.
Everything about this Bray Wyatt rebirth, so far, has been done excellently. He has managed to evolve the character, not just change it.
By that, I mean that he's carried elements from his past character and used them in this new incarnation.
That said, I feel like that has made me have an expectation of a similarly masterful evolution of his in-ring wrestling style.
I'm not sure if that's a fair expectation to have, but I think I'll be slightly disappointed if he doesn't deliver.
Are we building to something beyond SummerSlam? I like that.
I think Elias could benefit to get away from Shane McMahon, if at least for a little while. He has a lot to highlight as his own character; there's other performers that would be better suited in that henchman role.
Now, Chad Gable; where do we go from here? Will this be Elias vs Gable, or will we see Gable being punked by other wrestlers also?
I hope we get more, next week!
So, I didn't put a picture up, but we got dueling video packagers for Kofi Kingston vs Randy Orton. I generally like these, and this one was no different.
I think Orton and Kofi did a good job of selling this feud. They did a better job at that than I initially believed they would. Kofi Kingston wins at WWE SummerSlam, though.
Now, to the Roman Reigns thing. I really like this story. I want Buddy Murphy's accusations of Rowan to be a lie; something he said to escape Roman's grasp.
I don't know that they'll go that route; IT does make sense that The Planet's Champions and Roman Reigns are technically SmackDown guys.
Will this essentially end the RAW part of this story? What about Samoa Joe? This is intriguing, and a great way to keep people coming back for more!
Not a bad week, and they did some good final builds for the WWE SummerSlam matches.
Things appear to be picking up from a storyline aspect. I'm excited for that, and hope there is more where that came from.
An interesting aspect is that the final image they left us with, is for a story that isn't scheduled for anything at SummerSlam.
As far as I know, none of these characters involved in the Roman Reigns saga is involved in a SummerSlam match.
I don't recall EVER seeing that happen. I'm guessing this storyline WILL find a way to get on WWE SummerSlam in some fashion.
