We are inching ever closer to October, where supposedly EVERYTHING AS WE KNOW IT WILL CHANGE!
But what about right now? WWE SUMMERSLAM is going soon! Will we be entertained in the interim? Let's find out!

KEVIN OWENS
SHANE MCMAHON
DREW MCINTYRE

I can't decide if this St-owen-cold Kevin Owens thing is getting over as much as I thought it would. Maybe it just needs more time to get there.
Owens probably is the best performer to fill that "every man", relatable, top-face role; while having great crowd work, and main-event experience.
So far, so good, I guess.

ALEISTER BLACK

I guess we needed a do-over on the "Knock On My Door" angle?
I'll admit, the Cesaro reveal left a lot to be desired, but I kinda feel like we missed the mark, so I'm not sure why we're trying it again?
Is there someone that will make us all forget the first try?

BAYLEY
EMBER MOON

I know the idea of making future opponents team-up for a tag team match is about as old as wrestling, so I'm used to it; but, I wish there was a different way to to create conflict between the characters.
Carry something over from a social media argument. Have a fake autograph signing go bad, etc.
If I'm going to be able to easily deduce your outcomes, at least you could vary the settings .

CHARLOTTE FLAIR
TRISH STATUS

This is a good way to keep Charlotte in the spotlight of being one of the absolute best in the division, without having her involved in every title match.
WWE SummerSlam is in Toronto, so the Trish Stratus thing fits well. I'm sure this match will be good. At least, it will be good enough to serve it's its purpose; which SHOULD be to make Charlotte look like an even bigger deal than they have already made her out to be.

THE FIEND BRAY WYATT
FINN BALOR
DOLPH ZIGGLER

I still don't have a reason WHY The Fiend has his eyes set on Finn Balor. I would think we should have that before we get the match, but I'm not positive we will.
They also got a spot in for Dolph to be able to continue his "disrespect" of Shawn Michaels, and his general asshole behavior.

ALI
SHINSUKE NAKAMURA

I still don't have a lot of understanding on what we're supposed to get behind Ali for.
His videos have been really good, and they are intriguing, but these in-ring payoffs don't really seem to do anything for me.
What is this character; besides the guy that we used to be really behind, but then kind of forgot about?

RANDY ORTON

Randy Orton's best promos are done backstage. I don't mean that as an insult to his in-ring promo abilities; but these backstage ones are typically done exceptionally well.
I really like how Orton is bagging on Kofi by bringing up the idea that he just got lucky and seized an opportunity he really shouldn't have had, when Ali got hurt.

AJ STYLES
KOFI KINGSTON
THE O.C.
THE NEW DAY

AJ Styles keeps wrestling top tier champions, even though he is currently a mid tier champion. That seems weird to me.
I guess this was okay filler for both of their storylines. Again, however, I don't know that this made me feel ANYTHING about either storyline. If I felt ANYTHING, it was apathy.

ROMAN REIGNS

Oh no! Somebody managed to push over lighting rigs onto Roman Reigns!
And they managed to do it without being seen by Roman, Charley Caruso, or ANY of the camera men. Including the camera that was positioned conveniently behind that very lighting rig!
What a dastardly heel this mystery person must be! Roman is in deep shit now!

Okay, not bad. We are technically left with a cliff hanger. Who pushed the blank-painted plastic tubing onto Roman when he wasn't looking?
Will we ever know? Will we ever be the same again?
Hopefully we can get some answers next week!
Thanks for reading! Subscribe to the podcast!
I took last week off. While RAW had a reunion, I took a vacation. (I didn't really go on any vacation, I just didn't want to write about the RAW Reunion.)
I'm excited to get back into the reviews; hopefully they give me some good stuff.

I like the 24/7 Title, but I'm not sure the Mike and Maria saga really needs a prop. I think their storyline is good enough without the hardware.
That said, this title may only be involved in their storyline for about five minutes, so maybe I'm worried about nothing.
Click here to follow @TableShow on Twitter!
Not bad. I like a gauntlet match, but it seems unfair to use one as a number one contender match.
Why was Rey given an opportunity that was harder than Ricochet was? Am I to understand there is some sort of ranking system that these competitors fall under?
Click here to follow TweetTheTable on Instagram
The first-ever pregnant champion. This is not terrible, if I'm being honest. The 24/7 Title has been zany and off-the-wall, so this fits well.
The other wrestlers will have an obvious dilemma, which can lead to some great TV moments, if done right. Who WILL take this title off of Maria? Who CAN take this title off of Maria?
The plot hole here is when Maria confronted Titus. It's a plot hole because she called Titus the first-ever 24/7 Champion, and NOBODY would really remember that. I'm not sure even Titus remembers that.

Becky Lynch is losing fire fast. I don't really feel any interest in this story.
There's no reason for me to support and appreciate Becky for her near-villainous actions. She's just kind of coming off as conceited.

I'm worried that this O.C. thing is going to miss the mark. Mostly, I think that because I don't foresee there being any meaningful plot that they will be involved in.
What is the shared goal of the O.C.'s members? Why do they exist?

The Viking Raiders, again, defeated some non-name bums, on the flagship program of the most recognizable wresting promotion in the world.
Makes a lot sense.

Again, this was not bad. That's not necessarily a good thing, but it's better than nothing.
I like Natty having a bit of a mean streak, but there's still not much for me to hold on to. There's not a clear cut heel and face, which would be okay if the plot highlighted the subtleties.
But there isn't that, it's just two wrestlers talking shit and trying to back it up; but they're not saying anything with much value to it.

Brock SMASH!
This was seemingly designed to get sympathy for Seth, and I'm sure it worked for some.
It has been rumored that WWE is going to go back to edgier content, and this is a start.
I don't know that I'm much more interested in the outcome of their SummerSlam match, but maybe I'll get there.

I can see, also, an attempt here to make the shows more unpredictable. I like this.
I'm not sure why the involvement of many storylines though. Unpredictable doesn't have to mean random.

Not bad. That seemed to be the overall theme for the night. Hopefully, in the weeks to come, we can get to "good".
Thanks for reading; I'll be back next week for more!
Welcome to Tom's Top 5 - Pro Wrestling's Premier Ranking System!
This week of wrestling, to be frank (btw, who is Frank), was fun and frustrating.
There were some lows and some highs and A LOT of stuff in between.
This week’s list is not typical, but instead of me going on and on, let’s get to the list.
Enjoy!

STONECOLD STEVE AUSTIN

While he didn’t wrestle or interject himself into a storyline, I am putting Stone Cold in my top five for the simple reason of believability.
As soon as that glass shattered and he made his walk to the ring, he was 100% Stone Cold.
The cadence of his promo, the words he chose, and the intensity had all the hallmarks of a homerun promo; even if the promo itself was mainly fluff.
I miss Stone Cold and it was great to see him on Monday Night Raw.

KILLIAN DANE

Dane made a major impact as he reemerged on NXT taking out the “Original Bro” Matt Riddle.
The attack on Riddle already puts him in a major storyline in NXT and that is something I think this monster definitely deserves.
On top of just attacking Riddle, he punished Riddle by putting him through the stage with a massive bodyslam.
If you haven’t seen it yet I would recommend finding it online.

DREW GULAK

If I had to rank who is having the best matches of the month, I would have to put the 205 Live Champion on the top of that list.
Each time I have seen him wrestle, he continues to surprise me with his high level of performance.
This week he wrestled Isiah Scott, formerly known as Shane Strickland, and the match was incredible.
There was no “major spot”, but the story they told was superb.
You add this match to his match at Evolve’s 10th Anniversary against Matt Riddle, and Gulak is having a hell of a month in WWE.

BRAY WYATT

“Let me in.”
That is some spooky shit coming from a guy who wants to tear you apart.
I thought he had the best overall segment on Smackdown with his uncomfortable promo with Finn Balor.
The whole promo was from out of left field and was very welcomed as it caught my attention and kept it until the segment was over.
He also attacked a legend in Mick Foley on Monday Night Raw which adds more credibility to the “Fiend.”
I am optimistic at this point that Wyatt will develop into a major heel in WWE.

SHAWN SPEARS

Spears' sit-down interview with Jim Ross was great!
This interview was his first time to really be heard since leaving WWE. He had a sense of confidence and swagger to him that made me want to hear more from him.
I really liked the “shoot” comments he had about his relationship with Cody Rhodes.
The comments were not over the top but Spears did have elements of a heel as he talked with Ross.
At the very end of the interview it was revealed that Tully Blanchard will be in his corner which is a fantastic wrinkle in this Spears vs Rhodes match.

Tim and Tom discuss the fallout of the pro-wrestling mega weekend that featured WWE Extreme Rules, AEW Fight For The Fallen, and Evolve's 10th Anniversary Show on the WWE Network.
Welcome to Tom's Top 5 - Pro Wrestling's Premier Ranking System!
WOW! What a week in pro wrestling! From AEW and the G1 Climax, to Extreme Rules, and even Evolve making their debut on the WWE Network, there was a ton of pro wrestling to watch.
I have decided not to rank the Top 5 because, when it really comes down to it, it’s just splitting hairs between these 5 pro wrestlers.
Now, without further ado, let’s get to the list!

AR FOX

In an event that had a lot at stake for Evolve, I felt AR Fox was the shining star. There was a massive amount of pressure to be as good as you can on the WWE Network and Fox had all the charisma and style to make an impact.
His in-ring style is captivating, but what really won me over is the teacher gimmick he has going on currently. His tag team partner, Leon Ruff, is his star student and all the talent around the ring during their match were also students of AR Fox.
Watching Fox and Ruff win the Evolve championships and the entire group celebrate the victory had a cool “team” feel to it while everyone still acknowledging that AR Fox was the leader.
I think there is a lot of meat on the bone in terms of storytelling that this championship reign can tell, and I am looking forward to seeing how it all unfolds.

BRAUN STROWMAN

Simply put, Braun went back to being Braun at Extreme Rules. What initially got Strowman over was dishing out pure destruction; and with his match with Lashley, he went back to tearing shit up.
The slam at the end of the match was a great spot and the loud roar Strowman yelled as he broke through the wall to claim victory was excellent.
Let’s hope we see Strowman cause more destruction in WWE because when Strowman keeps it simple, he is a top talent.

BARON CORBIN

“What are you gonna do about it ya piece of shit?!” That was what was yelled at Seth Rollins by Corbin after Baron Corbin delivered an “End of Days” to the Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch.
The mixed tag match was nothing special, but the heel work Corbin has been doing in recent weeks has been exceptional.
When he yelled at Rollins, I said to myself “Corbin is an asshole”, and that is the whole point of being a heel.
Corbin right now is the best heel in WWE and that is why he made my Top 5.

LUCHASAURUS

Luchasaurus. It’s a damn dinosaur in AEW! I am not sure what more you need?!
This gimmick is great, and a curveball in the promotion. I really enjoy the “big brother” feel he has with Jungle Boy and his matches have been a lot of fun to watch.

CHAD GABLE

Full disclosure; Gable is my favorite wrestler to watch in ring. On top of that, I think he is the total package (No, not Lex Lugar).
He can cut a good promo, his moves are believable, and he can sell really well. The reason he made my Top 5 this week is because of his match on 205 Live against “Gentleman” Jack Gallager.
This match was my favorite of the week and it had it all; great chain wrestling, good storytelling, and even a high spot or two.
I have said for a while that Gable should be the 205 Live champ and after this match, it needs to happen sooner rather than later.

It's time for a WWE Smackdown Live Review!
If you read my WWE RAW Review, then you know I was slightly disappointed.
Hopefully Smackdown lifts my spirits.

Okay, I liked this Town Hall. Roman Reigns looked cool, Liv Morgan dissed Charlotte, The New Day made fun of nearly everyone; this was a believable way to get a lot of personalities some good screen time.

Will this lead to Randy Orton being Kofi's new challenger?
That could be decent. Orton delivers pretty consistently and Kofi has been good in the champion role, so I'm looking forward to it.

Stonecold Kevin Owens was kicking ass and taking names!
It looks like we're going full speed ahead on this new version of Austin vs McMahon, so we may as well get in to it.
Honestly, this is a great fit for Kevin Owens; maybe this turns into something big.

Yeah, Smackdown was better than RAW. I keep forgetting that Smackdown is moving to FOX in October, and that might just flip everything upside down.
Until that happens, however, this is what we get.
WWE RAW is in Long Island! What will happen after the "exciting" WWE Extreme Rules event the previous night?
Honestly, Extreme Rules felt pedestrian after Evolve and AEW went out and gave it everything they have this past weekend.
I'm sure WWE Superstars would argue that they also give everything they have, and perhaps that's true, but the product still feels overwhelmingly formulaic and vanilla.
I have zero hope that somehow this week's RAW will be different.

This really feels like we're being trolled. Trolled, or outright lied to.
I know they keep blending this into the storylines, but it's really bordering on insulting that The McMahons took time on television to apologize and admit that they have been not listening to the fans, and then just keep doing the same shit.
No one has asked for this. I like Brock, and if he's there regularly, and the stories are written well, then he's absolutely one of the best in the world.
But, that's not what's happening. He's not there regularly, and these stories are NOT stories. They're just half-ass ideas that pass a "good enough" test.
Twelve minutes. It took TWELVE MINUTES of video packages and two dudes STANDING STILL in the ring, to remind us what happened and tell us where we are going next. THIS IS NOT NECESSARY, nor is it good television.
If any other television program had to take roughly a tenth of their airtime to recap and preview, they wouldn't have ever been allowed to air; that's way too much time to sit and wait for the actual damn show to start.
WWE has gotten lazy and is taking their loyal fans for granted.
Click here to follow @TableShow on Twitter!
Perhaps if you didn't take TWELVE MINUTES to recap and preview, then maybe you wouldn't have had to cram multiple storylines into one match.
Again, there's no way this does anything good for either storyline. It's filler, and it screams to the audience that you can't come up with any better ideas.
There's no explanation for why the hell Robert Roode is involved, or really even why he's on the roster. I have ZERO reason to care for Robert Roode, so I REALLY don't care that now he's suddenly teaming with The Revival.
The payoff at the end of this was for The Club. So, ONLY RICOCHET needed to be there. What a waste of time for The Revival, The Usos, and Robert Roode.

Why is the jobber squash a thing? Why would I believe that these no-name schmucks are having a match on the most premier professional wrestling program in the history of the world? This just doesn't make sense.
Each week, we see NXT, which you tell us is a developmental league. We hear about the WWE Performance Center, which is a training center for the developmental league. We also saw you put EVOLVE on your network, and gave us every indication that it is a stepping stone to the Performance Center and NXT.
BUT NOW, these guys get a match on RAW. This doesn't make sense.

This wasn't terrible. I like Drew being away from Shane McMahon sometimes, and being mean to EVERYONE.
I guess we're gonna highlight Cedric Alexander now, which I'm not sure will pay off much. At least he may get a shot to prove me wrong.
Click here to buy some SAT merchandise at The Spanish Announce Merch Table!
He finally surfaces. I'm still not convinced this will be as "over" once the bell rings, but I hope it finds success.
There is WAY too much potential for storylines and marketing to let this character slip by with no purpose or direction.
I think I've lost faith that WWE can even recognize something like this anymore.
Use #TweetTheTable on Twitter with all your wrestling thoughts. Some of the very best might get read on our next podcast!
If history is any indicator, all of this leads to someone getting mad at them backstage, then a match gets booked, and then The Street Profits will be main roster guys.
Except, they'll have no direction or purpose, and will essentially be the Street Experience.

I was really hoping that this was the beginnings of a much bigger storyline, and I still hold out SOME hope.
But now that they made Mike Kanellis lose to Zack Ryder in LONG ISLAND?
That just makes me feel like all of this is to embarrass Mike.

Not a terrible idea FOR naming a number one contender, but a terrible job AT naming a number one contender.
WWE must think everyone is stupid. Don't tell us "there's no more rematch clause" and then just find some other way to give everyone the rematches anyway.
Seth Rollins vs Brock Lesnar never had much of a story EVER, and it damn sure won't have one this time around.
Who is finding this compelling? What feedback is the WWE getting that is telling them that everyone REALLY REALLY REALLY wants to watch Paul Heyman say the same shit each week, for the next month?
Who really wants this? Somebody give me a real answer. I don't understand.

WWE is full of shit when they say they hear the fans and are now focused on that. It's a big ass lie.
Smackdown has been better than RAW lately, but man, it's really not a high bar to hurdle.
Thanks for reading.
