Tom's Top 5 - Pro Wrestling's Premier Ranking System - July 26, 2019

Welcome to Tom's Top 5 - Pro Wrestling's Premier Ranking System!
This week of wrestling, to be frank (btw, who is Frank), was fun and frustrating.
There were some lows and some highs and A LOT of stuff in between.
This week’s list is not typical, but instead of me going on and on, let’s get to the list.
Enjoy!

STONECOLD STEVE AUSTIN

While he didn’t wrestle or interject himself into a storyline, I am putting Stone Cold in my top five for the simple reason of believability.
As soon as that glass shattered and he made his walk to the ring, he was 100% Stone Cold.
The cadence of his promo, the words he chose, and the intensity had all the hallmarks of a homerun promo; even if the promo itself was mainly fluff.
I miss Stone Cold and it was great to see him on Monday Night Raw.

KILLIAN DANE

Dane made a major impact as he reemerged on NXT taking out the “Original Bro” Matt Riddle.
The attack on Riddle already puts him in a major storyline in NXT and that is something I think this monster definitely deserves.
On top of just attacking Riddle, he punished Riddle by putting him through the stage with a massive bodyslam.
If you haven’t seen it yet I would recommend finding it online.

DREW GULAK

If I had to rank who is having the best matches of the month, I would have to put the 205 Live Champion on the top of that list.
Each time I have seen him wrestle, he continues to surprise me with his high level of performance.
This week he wrestled Isiah Scott, formerly known as Shane Strickland, and the match was incredible.
There was no “major spot”, but the story they told was superb.
You add this match to his match at Evolve’s 10th Anniversary against Matt Riddle, and Gulak is having a hell of a month in WWE.

BRAY WYATT

“Let me in.”
That is some spooky shit coming from a guy who wants to tear you apart.
I thought he had the best overall segment on Smackdown with his uncomfortable promo with Finn Balor.
The whole promo was from out of left field and was very welcomed as it caught my attention and kept it until the segment was over.
He also attacked a legend in Mick Foley on Monday Night Raw which adds more credibility to the “Fiend.”
I am optimistic at this point that Wyatt will develop into a major heel in WWE.

SHAWN SPEARS

Spears' sit-down interview with Jim Ross was great!
This interview was his first time to really be heard since leaving WWE. He had a sense of confidence and swagger to him that made me want to hear more from him.
I really liked the “shoot” comments he had about his relationship with Cody Rhodes.
The comments were not over the top but Spears did have elements of a heel as he talked with Ross.
At the very end of the interview it was revealed that Tully Blanchard will be in his corner which is a fantastic wrinkle in this Spears vs Rhodes match.
