WWE SMACKDOWN REVIEW
JULY 02, 2019
I'm confused. Are we going back to the babyface, people's-champ Kevin Owens?
Why is he suddenly giving Shane McMahon a hard time?
Why does Dolph Ziggler give two shits about any of this? How does something like this happen?
I still don't understand why we've made this tag team.
There is no increase to the Rowan character. This still feels like he's Daniel Bryan's lackey. Which is great if we are pushing Bryan in singles competition, but that's not what we're doing.
I don't think either guy is actually helping the other much.
Nikki Cross is awesome. She is easily one of my favorite WWE Superstars.
They weren't being subtle this time around; Bayley specifically pointed out that Nikki was able to do the things Alexa could not; therefore NIKKI should be the one getting title shots.
Alexa is in for a mauling when this all concludes.
For whatever reason, all of Ali's promos and vignettes are noticeably different from the majority.
I really like this one. It will be interesting to see what this angle has in store for us.
Is he still going to be a babyface in this role?
Samoa Joe is absolutely one of the best microphone artists in the business.
He legitimately feels like a dangerous sociopath that is capable of ripping your face off.
I also like that Kofi maintains a light-hearted demeanor, in these moments of being challenged to his face. That feels realistic for his character.
I do not care about Andrade. His character is boring and has no discernable purpose or direction.
I do not care about Apollo. His character is boring and has no discernable purpose or direction.
An alliance between Dolph and KO could make for some really great television. Especially when you begin to filter Sami Zayn into the mix.
I'm not exactly sure where all of this is headed, but at least they have me intrigued; wanting to find out.
I thought we were finally going to get a fight?
Perhaps, if Aleister would have answered the door faster, instead of grinning about it; he might have been able to see which Superstar did the knocking.
This story is moving along pretty slowly.
I definitely think this is all so they can hint at a romantic angle between Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville; which could be a very interesting topic to use in 2019.
I'm really not feeling much sympathy for Ember Moon, for what it's worth. In fact, it takes me a few seconds to remember her name each time I have to write it.
Okay then! I guess we ARE getting the people's-champ Kevin Owens?
Not much of this makes a whole lot of sense to me right now; but maybe it will in time.
For some reason, I don't mind that it doesn't make much sense at the moment. Maybe that's because these guys are pretty good at what they do; particularly Kevin Owens.
Okay, I'm not really sure what to make of this week's episode.
There's still not a whole lot of continuity, direction, or purpose; but it's not bad.
